Henry Cavill Facts #7 | Five favorites shoot locations

Everyone knows that British actor Henry Cavill travels a lot. Besides the marathon of countries he visits in the promotions of his works, the places of recordings and his private trips are still on the list.

In an interview for Entertainment Week – granted after the recordings of The Tudors series – Henry told what his 5 Favorite Locations had been until then.

On Take Five, Henry said that the fifth preferred destination, which he met in his works, was Venice. Cavill was there on the recordings of the movie Laguna and praised the food and the people of the city a lot.

Located in northeastern Italy, on a group of 118 islands, (separated by more than 150 canals and connected by 400 bridges), Venice is considered World Heritage.

Famous for the beauty of its architecture, in the history of symphonic music and opera, and the various works of art found there, it was a maritime power during the Middle Ages, and an important artistic and commercial center between the 13th and 17th centuries.

Some of the highlights of the city are: St. Mark’s Square, Rialto Bridge, St. Mark’s Campanile, Murano Island (famous for glassworks of the same name) and boat tours on the canals on the famous Venetian gondolas.

The city attracts many tourists at the Venice International Film Festival (held annually since 1932 at the Palazzo Del Cinema), and also at the Venice Carnival where people wear the famous masks.

The fourth location quoted by Cavill was Prague, where he recorded scenes from the film Tristan and Isolde. Henry said he’d been there in the winter period and was charmed by what he saw, from Gothic architecture to the city’s animated nightlife.

It is the capital and also the largest city of the Czech Republic (a country of Central Europe, limited to the north by Poland, the east by Slovakia, the south by Austria, the west by Germany). Known as the “City of One Hundred Cups”, it is one of the oldest urban centers in Europe

Carring universities founded from the 14th century, Prague is a center of knowledge, economy, arts, music, cinema, dance and has an architecture that blends Gothic and Renaissance styles.

The most visited places are the Prague Castle, the Gothic Cathedral of St. Vito, several baroque palaces, the Franz Kafka Museum, the astronomical clock, among others. In the gastronomic area, the highlight is the beer, which has a wide variety of brands, (because the region is responsible for much of the world production of hops).

The third place mentioned by Henry was Dublin and Ireland in general, where he recorded scenes of The Count of Monte Cristo, Tristan and Isolde, and some seasoned scenes from The Tudors series. In addition to praising the local beer, Henry says Dublin “It’s a beautiful city in a beautiful country“.

The name of the capital of Ireland means “Black Lake”, and the city founded as a Viking settlement, was the center of the Kingdom and the main city of the island.

In 2009, it was considered the fourth richest city in the world, (by purchasing power citizen), and the tenth per individual income. Dublin is also a very popular destination for students and exchange agencies.

Some of the most visited sites are: Malahide Castle (Medieval style), St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin Castle, St. Stephen’s Green Park and the Kilmainham Museum of Architecture.

One of the most famous local industries is the Guiness Beer, produced at St James’s Gate Brewery since 1759.

The most popular party in town is St Patrick’s Day – one of Ireland’s patrons – celebrated on 17 March.

Henry’s second favorite location is Rome. He recorded there scenes of Laguna, (years after this interview he returned to record some scenes of The Man From U.N.C.L.E).

About Rome, Cavill has stated liking the history, food and how even being an ancient city, it is a place full of energy, which makes you feel young.

The capital of Italy is the only place in the world that has an entire country in its interior: the Vatican.

One of the most important cities in the history of mankind, it has more than 2500 years of influence and is known as “The Eternal City”.

World Heritage Site, Rome is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. It also houses the largest educational centers, headquarters of large political and cultural organizations, and technology companies.

Known as one of the world’s fashion capitals, Rome is the 4th most important fashion center in the world – after Milan, New York and Paris – and has luxury fashion houses and jewelers such as Bvlgari, Fendi, Versace and Armani among Others installed mainly along the Via Condotti.

Among the many attractions of the city there are museums, art galleries, churches, palaces, monuments and historical ruins such as the famous Colosseum, for example, the Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum, the Vatican and also restaurants that are in the middle of the squares and Serve pasta accompanied by wines and the famous “gelato” as dessert.

And Henry Cavill’s favorite location, according to his Take Five, was Malta, where he recorded scenes of The Count of Monte Cristo. With breathtaking beaches and many historical places, we perfectly understand Henry’s choice

Malta or Republic of Malta is one of the smallest countries in Europe, south of the mainland, and has as capital the city of Valletta. It is an archipelago, (Maltese islands), in the Central Mediterranean Sea, located approximately 90km from the Italian island of Sicily.

The most accepted origin of the name Malta, comes from the Greek word meaning “Sweet Honey”, due to the exclusive production of Mel from Malta, by a particular species of bee. Who lives on the island.

The official language is English, but Italian is also spoken there, and the main activities of the island are trade, tourism and financial services.

Some of the most visited places are the Cathedral of Saint John (1577), the Museum of Fine Arts, Fort Saint Elmo, Museum of the Inquisition, Museum Gran Castelo Historic House and Maritime Museum.

Receiving many tourists in the country there is also the Comino Island, with beautiful landscapes and exuberant beaches, the most famous being the Coral Lagoon.

It may be that Henry’s list has changed or added new favorite locations, since in his most recent works he recorded in places like Jordan, Canada, Paris and New Zealand, for example.

Let’s hope that in your next movie, there are locations in Brazil … who knows?
